From 1972 to 1977 Lalduhoma worked as Personal Assistant to the Chief Minister of Mizoram. Following his graduation, he appeared for Indian civil services examinations at Shillong. Qualifying the Indian Police Service in 1977, he was posted as Assistant Superintendent of the Panaji subdivision in Goa
